Kebabs inspired by the cuisine of Jilin Province, China
Ethnic Koreans from China have come to Koreatown and opened quite a few restaurants that offer chuan’r, small pieces of meat roasted on skewers.
Chinese skewers are typically made with marinated meat, such as lamb, beef, chicken, or pork, threaded onto skewers and grilled over high heat. The meat is often flavored with a combination of spices, herbs, and sauces, giving it a delicious and savory taste.
Aside from the Korean-Chinese establishments, there are eateries owned by Middle Easterners and West Asians that offer kebabs. One such restaurant is Tehranro Grill on Western Avenue — they have chicken, beef, lamb, and vegetable skewers.
Filipino restaurants in North Koreatown usually have menus that feature inihaw on thin bamboo sticks. Manila Sunset on Vermont Avenue have such pork barbecue and chicken barbecue on their menu.
