KOMODO is not your average Asian/Mexican fusion taco truck — they serve what they call “dangerously good food.” (Think of the Komodo dragon of Indonesia.)

Launched less than a year ago in January 2010, by the summer the truck was graced by a visit by Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods. In the fall, they partnered with Warner Brothers and HBO’s Entourage to pump up the syndication of Entourage on KTLA5.

Their signature dish is meatballs served with romesco sauce — it’s pork meatballs topped with Spanish red bellpepper sauce.  Also on their menu are entrees such Fish N’ Grapes (deep-fried Alaskan cod tossed with fresh grape salad) and Asian Marinated Chicken (with stir-fried rice and Mandarin oranges).

Price range? All of their entrees are available as tacos ($3 each) or burritos ($8 each). Sides such as garlic or truffle fries are $5 each.

>Executive Chef is Erwin Tjahyadi, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu. Also part of the crew that co-founded Komodo are events and marketing director Eric Tjahyadi, operations manager Mike Cho, manager of business development Phil Seo, and operations manager Thomas Choi.

The Komodo truck made an appearance in Koreatown during the first day of our annual Holiday Charity Festival on December 11, 2010. And then on December 14, they commenced a canned food drive for the benefit of the LA Food Bank.
