Opened in September 2015, Hot Pot Troops was a Korean restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Mae Shil Tang Shabu-Shabu on the ground floor of Western Village Square, the mini-mall on the southwest corner of 3rd Street and Western Avenue.
The menu comprised mostly different types of Korean stews like jjigae and jeongol (“casserole”).
Choice ingredients included tripe (intestines), crab and various seafood, potatoes, mushrooms, Spam… Lunch options: galbitang, kimchi stew, spicy stir-fried squid over rice.
The banchan selection was commendable.
Was open most days for lunch and dinner, 11 am to 10 pm. Monday to Sunday.
