DJ Bibingkahan
UPDATE: Closed in 2022. Space to be taken over in 2023 by Manila Sunset.
DJ Bibingkahan was a small, casual Philippine restaurant in the New Filipinotown section, on Vermont Avenue, just north of Third Street.
Grand reopening was in February 2013.
Regular business hours: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Breakfast offerings: fried bangus (milkfish), longganisa (sausages), tinapa (smoked fish), tuyo (dried fish)
Breakfast hours: 8:00 am to 11:00 am
Dinner served only till 8:00 pm.
The iconic Filipino shaved-ice dessert halo-halo is of course on the menu.
For their house specialty, which is supposed to be bibingka, after which the restaurant is named… If you want it freshly made, call ahead for the best time to catch it being made fresh.
* Note that the bibingka is disappointingly baked in a modern oven and not in a traditional Philippine clay pot.
