Former site of the Ambassador Hotel… In 2001, the Los Angeles Unified School District bought the property, and in 2006, the historic hotel was torn down to make way for three new schools — an elementary school, a middle school and a high school.
The RFK school complex opened in 2010 and serves 4,200 students at a price tag of $578 million — the nation’s most expensive public school ever.
