The Los Angeles City Council has settled the Kim Nguyen case for $3.5 million.
On February 1, 2017, the Superior Court judge in the personal-injury case signed off, and on February 3rd, the civil-rights case pending before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals was also voluntarily dismissed in the wake of the settlement.
Thank you to the members of the Koreatown community who did not waver in keeping a focus on this case since 2013, despite the enormous pressure exerted by various parties.
We are very sorry that Ms. Nguyen underwent such an ordeal on our watch when we were promoting Koreatown as a destination for people of her demographic. For this, we will forever feel deep guilt and remorse.
